Susanna Fritscher
Born in Vienna in 1960, Susanna Fritscher has been investigating perception and reinventing our relationship to reality for decades. Often immaterial and atmospheric, her works impregnates the exhibition space and blends with the architecture which suddenly appears to be precarious, elusive, vibratile and liquified.
«The materials I use, plastics, films, veils or threads, are so volatile that they seem to merge with the volume of air they occupy. In the interplay they create in and with space, materiality shifts and changes: air now has a texture, a brilliance, a quality ; we can perceive its flow, its movement. It acquires a palpable, modular reality – a reality that is almost visible. » says the artist.
Susanna Fritscher has been the subject of numerous exhibitions worldwide, including Frémissements, at Centre Pompidou-Metz, Für die Luft (Rien que l’air), at Louvre Abu Dhabi, or Scan the eyes, at EAC, Contemporary Art Space, Montevideo. Her artistic legacy is further solidified by the inclusion of her works in significant public collections, including those at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, MUMOK in Vienna, and the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nantes.
